The further I delve into the world of Web 2.0, the more I see the spam issue for what it is. It's an epedimic of ignorance, fear and the inability to allow ones mind to understand that there is more than one way to accomplish and objective. Most of the people I find using spam are people who don't know any better. They are being educated by people who don't know how to market... thus... an industry of people looking for answers simply does what they believe is right... tarnishing reputations, losing momentum and, essentially, killing their marketing career before they even get started. Spam, in it's simplest definition, is providing ANYONE who has not ASKED with information concerning your business, opportunity or commercial interest. If you are sending messages, posting blogs, or participating in forums with content as described here, you are wrong, and you need to stop. I see so many people come so close to doing things right on the social networks, only to blow it by including some long affiliate link at the end. If you believe that a real entrepreneur is going to click your link and join your opportunity simply because you "think" it "might" be great, think again. If you are lucky, you are going to get a program hopper or two, at best... who will join you... generating false enthusiasm (making you think you did right) only to watch them quit 30 days later because you lacked the communication skills to empower the person who joined you to become successful. Twice today I have been contacted by people who call themselves "business people" with message like "I don't know if you are looking or not, but I think that "so and so" is going to be huge and thought you would want to take a look." NO! I don't want to take a look! I don't care and neither does anyone else! I am 100% focused and dedicated to my business, my mentors and coaches, my team, my students and my mission... anything else is a distraction and I am not interested, and neither should you be. You should be spending your time educating others so they will be attracted to you! That way, you can use your knowledge to leverage people into your organization/company and educate them correctly. Think about how dumb this would be. Imagine that you owned a deli offline. Your deli is doing very well... you are sellling more sandwiches and salads than anyone else on the block. The next thing you know, someone selling hamburgers and fries opens up down he street, comes to you and says "hey, how would you like to take the focus off of your business and join with me? What I am doing is going to be bigger and better than anything else. Everyone is gong to come eat my fat, nasty unhealthy food!" You would think that person was a lunatic! Does it really make anymore sense to do the same thing online? I know this sounds harsh, but it's the truth. I want to see people succeed and that's not going to happen by publishing bullsh** information that isn't going to instruct others as to the correct way to do things. People don't care abour your business, opportunity, product or marketing system. That's why you are sitting there, at your computer, scratching your head and wondering why no one is signing up with you. If you can't lead people to the promised land, they aren't going to join you and stay. You have to empower others and lead by example. Do you want to know the truth, do you want want to know what people really want? They want YOU! They want answers and they want someone to provide them. Become educated and become financially free! When you understand how to meet the emotional needs of others, and what they are, you will then hold one of the keys to success in the home business industry. This type of leadership requires education. When you have the ability to take someone into a community like MySpace, Direct Matches, Wowzza, NING... or any of the others, and show them how to generate traffic, leads and sales, then you will have the power to build an organization that will help you become successful as you empower them to do the same. Don't advertise where advertising isn't welcome... and don't spend any more money on advertising until you have taken the time to find a mentor who is qualified to help you do things the right way. Cheers! Rex Harris

For those of you who are working to build a powerful down line in MLM, here's a tactic you can use to drive traffic. Get out of your head and get into your heart! If you want to attract people to you, give them something of value that they can take from you and then apply. When it works, they will come back to you for more! One of the techniques that I use in groups and forums is to provide an introduction to a blog or article I have created to give people credible "how to" information. I get their "Attention" doing this. I then offer even better information through my blogs (in my PROFILE), which entices them to read the blog. There, I give them a technique that they can apply. This builds credibility and trust, as well as driving traffic to my PROFILE (generating INTEREST)... At this time, I will also make the first attempt to get them to my PERSONAL BRANDED website, not my busienss site. Business sites are secondary... They are then informed that there is even better information on my BRANDED web site... like a free training course, for example. This not only gets them on my site (they make a DECISION to visit) and helps my search engine ranking, it gets them into my auto responder, where I continue to help them with the BASICS of marketing. From there, I work to build the relationship... at which point (because I have given them "stuff" that was good and useful), that they are willing to do whatever it takes to work with me so they can become even more successful. Keep in mind, you can't fake this. If you don't have the knowledge, find a good mentor and obtain it. Never give to much... curiosity satisfied is INTEREST lost... and remember... A.I.D.A - attention, interest, decision, action! Hope this helps! Cheers! Rex

Not all spammers are bad people, some just don't know any better. Before you get someone banned who could have been your ticket to millions, be a little patient and try this first: Before you report it, try to turn it into your favor. There are many good people out there who just don't know any better... and the last thing you want to do is report someone that could have been huge in your organization. Take the time to educate someone, and you could win a friend who will help you make a boat load of money! Here's what I do... When I get spam, I simply reply to the message with: ***** Hi NAME, Thanks for the information! How are things going for you? Rex ***** Usually I can get them to engage in conversation, and then through the course of the conversation I can ask "Did you see the NO SPAM notice Jim posted on our home pages? Pretty strict..." That usually gets them asking questions like "How do I know what's spam and what's not..." And then you can educate, perhaps win a friend and get a sign up in your business! If they persisit and won't stop, just report them through the help desk. Hope this helps! Rex

How will you be using the new friend mailer? Having this incredible tool is going to give the professional social marketer an edge over eveyrone else. Here are a few techniques that you can apply and make this tool a POWERFUL, traffic driving resource! 1.) DO NOT USE IT FOR SPAM! If you are sending ANYONE information about YOUR BUSINESS without their permission, that is spam. I have it on good authority, from Jim, that this is NOT going to be tollerated. Protect your Wowzza membership and do not spam people. Keep your business out of the friend mailer, it has no business there. This is a social network, not spam factory. 2.) Driving traffic within a network is about continuity. Everything from your profile, to your blog, to your groups must be tied together to create a flow. Any disturbance in the flow can shut traffic off like the kitchen faucet. The best way to drive traffic is to make sure that you create a professional, dynamic photo of yourself. Your picture must be warm and friendly as to use the Law of Attraction to bring people to you. Keep the flow of your writing and posts in line with giving first and the rest will come naturally. Remember, marketing online is about selling you as the product. When people are sold on you, they will join with you in your businesses and endeavors. A great way to incorporate the friend mailer into your social marketing strategy is to use it as a tool to introduce new blogs and/or incentives you have added to your profile. Send your friends an introduction (like a brief "how to") concerning something you have learned and want to share. Make sure what you are sharing is good, because when they go back to apply what you have shared, and it works, guess what? They will keep coming back for more! That's what you want... that's what drives traffic! 3.) You can't FAKE IT UNTIL YOU MAKE IT! One of the things I keep seeing more and more is people creating images of themselves as though they were on the cover of a magazine. If you have actually been on the cover of a magazine, then great, by all means use that (it's very powerful)... but if you have been on the cover of fortune magazine, don't pretend like you have been. That's dishonest and completely unnecessary. Another great way to brand yourself and get people feeling good about you is to send daily updates to your friends conerning advertising or marketing resources that have been producing results for you. You may also send a quick note to them concerning information you have found online that will be befeficial to the reader. The more "good stuff" you can send via the mailer, the more likely people are to keep reading what you send. If you spam, fake it or do things that are dishonest, your reputation will suffer and the mailer will become useless to you. All social marketing tools should be used to help others first. When you do that, it develops trust and people keep coming back for more. If they trust you, they will visit your websites and follow you into opportunities and business ventures. Be champion for the cause, not just another marketer who is out for themselves!

Are you a "champion for others?" What's your cause? Are you puttinig others before yourself, your business, your opportunity, your compensation plan or your marketing system? The law of reciprocity works my friends. The Bible says when we give, it comes back to us, compounded and running over! Could it be that the greatest fountain of wealth exists within in a giving heart? 14 years ago I started my journey in the world of sales and marketing. At that time, my GOAL (<=== YUCK! Goals don't work) was to make a bunch of money for myself... and that's what I did. I worked 14 hours per day (and 6 to 8 on Saturday) with no other intention than to benefit me. Talk about suck the life and passion right out of you. After three and half years, I quit. In October of 1999, I started my first home based business using the Inernet. I made a bunch of money through November and December, not thinking of anyone accept myself... and the business had crumbled by February of 2000. For years and years I chased money... nickel and diming my way to mediocre six figure sales (that I had to split with someone else)... spending the money on the lusts of my flesh (yes, drugs, alcohol and other things that are not at all pleasing to God)... and you guessed it... after four and a half years... FAILURE STRUCK AGAIN! The irony in all of this is that I was raised in a Christian home based on Biblical principles like "Give and it will be given unto you." So then I jumped on the pay if forward bandwagon... but the condition of my heart was not pure, so that did not work for me. The moral of the story here, is this. There are two ways to market yourself on the Internet and the second one is the WRONG way! People are tired of hearing the tired tales of "my program is best, this is hot..." People want to feel love, they want to be needed and they need to be part of something... Meet that need and things will change forever! Cheers! Rex

How to create a HOT Wowzza profile by Rex One of the most important aspects of being a social marketer is making a good first impression. Remember, your profile is NOT a resume', it's a reflection of you! Make sure that you keep it professional in appearance, but warm and friendly. You want people to feel good when they read your profile. If yours looks the same as the others, they will be scanned and discarded, leaving you with traffic, but no conversion. When writing your about me, incorporate story, not fact. This is not a place to promote your business, this is a place where you want to give something of value to others that will keep them coming back for more. Your stories and experiences, if they can benefit others, are great to share! You may also consider offering a gift (e-book, software, etc.) as a token of thanks for them stopping by. Below is a CODE that you can use to change the appearance of your Wowzza profile. To insert this code into your Wowzza profile, simply click on the edit link next the profile link in your main menu. Once you have done this, move your mouse all the way down to the right to the "settings" link. After clicking that link, a new page will open with a large open box. Simply copy and paste the code below into that box. <style> body {margin: 5px 0px 0px 0px; background-color: RED ; background-image: url(YOUR BACKGROUND IMAGE URL HERE); background-position: Top Left; background-repeat: no-repeat; background-attachment: fixed; } a:link { font-family: Arial; font-size: 11px; font-weight: Bold; font-style: Normal; color: #blue; text-decoration: None; } a:visited { font-family: Arial; font-size: 11px; font-weight: Bold; font-style: Normal; color: #ff4040; text-decoration: None; } a:active { font-family: Arial; font-size: 11px; font-weight: Bold; font-style: Normal; color: #ffffff; text-decoration: None; } a:hover { font-family: Arial; font-size: 11px; font-weight: Bold; font-style: Normal; color: #blue; text-decoration: Underline; } p { font-family: Arial; font-size: 21px; font-weight: 600; font-style: Normal; color: #4AA02C; text-decoration: None; } td { font-family: Arial; font-size: 14px; font-weight: 500; font-style: Normal; color: #000000; text-decoration: None; } </style> The only thing you need to change in the first line is the background color (Google HTML color codes for a huge list of colors to chose from) or an image that you want to use for the background. I recommend BigStockPhoto.com for great back ground pics. I use RealDrawPro to changes sizes to make them fit. Or, you can Google "website background images" if you prefer something free. If you use free photo's make sure you are not violating any copyrights. If you are not going to use an image, remove the words YOUR BACKGROUND IMAGE HERE from between the ()... so it looks like () when you copy and paste the code into your profile settings box. The second series of lines affects the clickable links on your profile. My suggestion is that you don't change these unless you know how. I will be covering this in our daily trainings from time to time, or you can contact me through messaging here on Wowzza if you would like a hand setting this up. The third series sets the font sizes and colors for the page. The line starting with "p" changes the size and color of anything set in the <p> tags in the about me section of your page... for example.... <p>Welcome to my Wowzza profile</p> would be effected, but nothing else will. The "td" line changes the rest of the text on the page that is not set in the <p> tags. Have fun! If you mess it up, don't worry... just re-copy the code and try again. ... and like I said, simply contact me through the message system in Wowzza if you would like assistance! If you want to become a millionaire, become friends with the right one! People will become attracted to you through those you associate with, whether it happens by accident or by choice... Allow me to explain: One day, Pope John Paul was on his way to the United States. His mission? Deliver the anuual Thanksgiving Day message at the White House.
While sitting on the plane, waiting patiently to arrive on American soil, he grabbed the latest issue of "Car and Driver," from his carry on bag...
Dreaming of the opportunity to actually drive one day (versus having people drive him from place to place), he prayed that God would allow him this blessing, if only one time.
Upon his arrival at the airport, sure enough, there was was the usual chauffer, waiting as always.
This time, however, something was different! They hadn't sent an ordinary limo...
in fact, they had sent him the limo of his prayers and dreams... the new, top of the line Hummer, just like the one featured in "Car and Driver!"
The Pope was elated that God had heard and answered his plea!
"Ask and it shall be given," God told him in his heart, so the Pope asked the chauffer if he could drive.
The chauffer strenuosly objected to the Pontiffs' request, but after "sharing his story of always being driven from place to place and never being able to drive himself", the chauffer was touched by the story and agreed to let him drive, but only through the parking lot, as he didn't have a drivers license.
Once they had reached the end of the parking lot, the Pope pleaded for a little road time, and of course, the chauffer objected. Again, the Pope continued with his story of days gone by without his hands on the wheel, and the chauffer was compelled to let him continue.
It just so happened that they came upon the Interstate, and before the chauffer could object, the Pope had hit the on ramp and was accelerating to highway speed...
50, 60, 70, 80 miles per hour... the Hummer Limo rolled down the highyway smooth and mean.
The Pope rolled down the window, rested his elbow on the door, smiling from ear to ear and thanking God for the experience and how it was everything he had ever dreamed it would be.
Unfortunatley, once the speedometer hit 90, they passed a state police officer (who was not only monitoring traffic speed, but as also happened to a devout Catholic) and were immediately pulled over for going to fast.
As the officer approached the window of the limo, he was (at first) oblivious to the fact that there sat the Pope, elbow still resting on the window, cool as the morning breeze.
"What seems to be the problem officer," the Pope asked, beaming from ear to ear?
The officer asked "Sir, do you know how fast..."
And then he stopped in mid sentence... his mouth falling open slightly, amazed that the leader of his church and the model of his faith was the man sitting behind the wheel.
He then peered into the back of the limo, surprised to see who was sitting in the back. Nonetheless, he smiled at the man... bowing his head slightly as to say "hello"... with all due reverence and respect.
He then looked back at the Pope and said, "Sir, I'll be right back with you!"
Quickly, he turned away and raced back to his patrol car!
In an instant, he radioed the captain back at the station, hardly able to contain the excitement and confusion.
The officer said, "Captain, you aren't going to believe who I just pulled over..."
"This better be good," the captain warned... "who did you pull over... the mayor," he asked?
"No sir," replied the officer, he's more important than that..."
"More imoprtant than the mayor? Is it the governor," asked the captain?
"No sir," the officer conitnued... "much more important than that..."
"Well who is it man?", the captain demanded... "the President, the Queen? Who?"
Unable to contain his jubilation he said, sir... I believe it has to be God because the Pope is his chauffer!"
Are those you are chosing to surround yourself with attracting others to you? I would like to introduce you to my friends, let's talk today!

Does your profile make people feel good? If people don't feel good reading your profile, what is going to keep them from disregarding everything you have worked so hard to publish? It's a profile... not a resume'. Personally, I could care less whether someone is a Harvard graduate, came from "corporate america", or is the owner of "Blast-O-Rama Berry Juice, if they can't take me to the promised land. Arrogance, pride and boasting to not generate good feelings or emotions! Who is the shepherd? You? Me? There are tens of thousands of people out there looking for someone to take them by the hand, but very few have anything useful to add through their profile. In reading over most profiles, whether on Wowzza, MySpace, DirectMatches, wherever, I learn very little about mindset, drive or compassion for others. It does happen from time to time, but it's the exception and not the rule. Here are a couple of things you can add to your profile that will start to build a little trust and help with the early stages of relationship building. First, you want people to feel good when they visit your profile. Giving gifts make people feel good! Include a link to a cool freebie, if you dont' have anything else to give, such as ooVoo or Skype (see my profile). This not only gives people something cool that they can use and share, it gives you a way to fill your pipeline. Chat tools are much easier to break the ice in versus the telephone. Second, forget about your business and do something to help someone else! People will remember that. When they are sold on you, they will buy whatever you are selling, so long as YOU will continue to help them and the friendship isn't just based on some shallow attempt to raid someone's wallet and then ditch them, as has become the industry standard. If you want people to continue coming back to your profile, then you have to be the procuct. People fail because they miss that realization. Even those that think they get it fail because they somehow have been brainwashed to believe that they must be tied to their product or business. Your business opportunity, product and compensation plan mean nothing to people... Show them some love and watch the change take place! Cheers! Rex
